Clinical Effect, of N-(3¢¥, 4¢¥-dimethoxycinnamoyl) anthranilic acid(Rizaben^(¢ç)) in Patients with Chronic Asthma

Abstract
The clinical effect of N-5¢¥(Rizaben?), an antiallergic drug, was evaluated in 30 patients (17 males, 13 females) with moderate to severe symptoms of chronic asthma who visited the allergy clinic of Seoul National University Hospital from November, 1982 to June, 1984.
After 4 weeks of observation period, 100mg of N-5¢¥(Rizaben i cap) was given orally three times a day for 8 weeks.
The effectiveness of N-5¢¥ was evaluated by mean values of symptom scores and medication scores recorded in the.asthma diary during the study.
The results were as follows.
1) 19 out of 30 cases(63.3%) showed improvement after N-5¢¥ therapy. The effect was: excellent in 5 and good in 14.
2) The clinical effect of N-5¢¥ was not related to age, sex, duration of illness type of asthma.
3) No side effects were observed during the period of administration of N-5¢¥.
The above results suggest that N-5¢¥ is clinically effective and safe drug to prevent asthmatic attacks, particulary in adult patinets with moderate to severe chronic asthma.
